BREAKING: Two Michigan Troopers Shot By Long Gun In Apparent Ambush

Two Michigan state troopers were shot on Wednesday.

Union Township, MI - Two Michigan State Police troopers were shot while attempting to execute a search warrant for a cold case investigation on Wednesday.

The troopers went to execute the warrant at around 11:15 a.m. according to MLive.

The troopers announced their presence, and the shooter emerged with a long gun.

A detective sergeant was shot in the chest, and the trooper with him received a grazing wound.

The suspect is not in custody, but is believed to still be barricaded on the property.

It's unknown if the troopers were able to return fire.

The detective sergeant was airlifted to the hospital, but no update on his condition was immediately available. The trooper with the graze wound was not transported.

UPDATE: The suspect is dead. No information has been released about how he died.
