BREAKING: Two Austin Officers Shot - Scene Active

Two Austin police officers were shot.

Austin, TX - Two Austin police officers were shot Sunday night while responding to a call.

Officers were called to a shots fired call in the 5500 block of Ponciana Dr, according to KXAN.

After officers arrived, an officer in his 30s, and an officer in his 50s were shot. Both officers were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is now barricaded in a building and in an active standoff with SWAT at the time of this writing.

KXAN is live-streaming from the scene:

Update: One Austin police officer was shot and another was injured while trying to take cover when a gunman opened fire on them early Monday morning.

"The officers ran from the front of the house and jumped over a fence and called it in. And at that point we had multiple units responding to the scene," Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said during a news briefing Monday morning.

SWAT attempted to negotiate with the suspect and failed, according to KXAN.

Eventually, the suspect tried to make a run for it while dragging a female hostage with him. SWAT shot and killed the suspect as he attempted to make his exit.

The officer who was shot in the arm was a five-year veteran of the department. The officer who injured his knee and hand escaping had been on the force for 16 years.

When they get to the guy inside just execute him. No trial, no prison. No living off the state for the rest ofthis scumbags life.

He didn't give the officers a chance, so execute him in front of a firing squad and be done with it. I can't believe they had to make a law, that shooting an officer, was a hate crime. Unless it carries more punishment. The more the better.

I agree. Shoot him. Who cares what the liberals think. Criminals get by with way too much. Wasting taxpayers money for these types of criminals. Tired of seeing victims especially families having to put up with these criminals if they end up going to court. Starts becoming more of a circus. Prayers for the officers and families.

I agree! Not only this guy but any murderer. I hate paying for prison for them.they don’t give their victims a chance. They don’t deserve one either.
