The Texas Rangers were there with the seven deputies, which means they knew, going in, it was a high-risk warrant situation. I'm guessing one of the gangs that's increased their presence in Odessa.

Did the residents know they were shooting at leo's or did they think they were shooting at robbers?

You can blame this mentality on the Obama justice department and Obama defending of minorities and refugees over law enforcement

I'm reading this from my patio in Brazil and when I came to this sentence..."One of the suspects was destroyed in the gunfight....." I immediately thought that I was reading a translated copy from Portuguese as we rarely (if ever) see a sentence like this. I guess they mean that one of the suspects died as the scene!

Stronger laws for shooting or killing first responders. Fry a few the rest will back away from the fire.

The suspect who lived has not been charged with any drug offenses, but rather "failure to identify."

Born and raised in Odessa. There were three OPD officers killed in the line of duty on the same call several years ago. I was a police officer in neighboring Midland for several years. These shootings I take personally. Prayers for these three deputies to recover as quickly as possible. Prayers for their families both blood and blue...🙏🏻
