Redstone Arsenal, AL - Officials have reported an active shooter in progress on Tuesday at the Sparkman Center of the Redstone Arsenal military installation, according to AL.com.

Redstone Arsenal spokesman Christopher Colster said that multiple reports have been received, and all personnel have been ordered to shelter in place. The base is in complete lockdown.

The location of the active shooter has not been confirmed, but people inside the Sparkman Center have said that the shooter is in that building. No further details have been provided. It is unknown if anyone has been injured.

An active shooter drill was scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, but officials have confirmed that today's incident is not part of that drill. Employees at the arsenal received an email about 10:30 AM on Tuesday that said:

"This is a real world event, which is not part of the exercise. The facility is under lockdown and all gates are closed. More to follow.

This is NOT AN EXERCISE."
