Panola County, MS – A Panola County constable was killed on Thursday when a suspect who was being chased by officers from another agency crashed into his patrol vehicle.
Panola County sheriff’s deputies said that law enforcement officers from Charleston were chasing suspects in a stolen car on the afternoon on Dec. 12, WREG reported.
The suspect vehicle slammed into the constable’s patrol vehicle at Highway 35 South and Highway 6.
The constable was killed in the crash, WREG.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the fallen constable but he is only one of two constables in Panola County.
Officials said the constable was not helping with the chase when he was hit, according to WREG.
Sources said that the stolen vehicle that crashed into the constable was driven by two juveniles.
Police took two teenagers into custody at the scene of the wreck, WHBQ reported.
