Orlando, FL - An Orange County Sheriff's Deputy was shot during a gunfight on Tuesday. The incident happened around Americana Boulevard and Texas Avenue in Holden Heights.
It is unclear what led up to the shooting of the sergeant by a convicted felon on Tuesday. Multiple reports of an officer in need of assistance went out just before noon in Holden Heights.
The Orlando Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol officers all responded to the shooting, as well as emergency personnel. At least one ambulance went to the Orlando Regional Medical Center by police escort. A large blue tarp went up immediately to shield those coming and going from the public.
The suspect lost the gunfight and is justifiably dead. The unidentified sergeant is reportedly awake, but his condition has not been released.
John Young Parkway has been shut down according to the Orlando Sentinel, just north of Americana Boulevard and Grand Central Parkway.
So thankful! OCSO Sgt is in stable condition at ORMC after being shot by convicted felon.
