Davidson County, NC – A Davidson County sheriff’s deputy was shot while responding to a domestic incident on Wednesday morning near Lexington.
WGHP reported that there was also a female victim who had been wounded by a gunfire, and that a male suspect had been shot twice at the scene and taken into custody.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred at about 10:36 a.m. on Nov. 6 when deputies responded to a call about a domestic situation on Cox Avenue in Linwood, WGHP reported.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that a deputy had been shot but has not released any additional information about the incident or the deputy’s name or condition.
Police set up a perimeter and blocked off Old Linwood Road and Belmont Road, outside Lexington.
As the media began to arrive on the scene of the shooting, officers told reporters they could not go any closer because “they’re still shooting,” WGHP reported.
WGHP reported that an armored vehicle was seen approaching the scene along with an SUV with emergency lights.
The Dispatch reported that an air ambulance had been called to medivac at least one of the shooting victims.
The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the wounded deputy or any information about his condition.
