BREAKING: Nevada State Trooper Shot While Stopping To Help Motorist
Elko County, NV – A manhunt is underway for a suspect who shot a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and stole his uniform on Friday morning.
Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command released a statement that said the incident occurred at about 5:54 a.m. on March 27 when the trooper stopped to assist a motorist on U.S. Highway 93 in White Pine County near Ely, KTNV reported.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah DeGoey said multiple shots were fired, and the trooper was hit, according to KRXI.
Multiple agencies were assisting the Nevada Highway Patrol in the search for the suspect, including the Washoe County Sheriff's Office helicopter, KRXI reported.
The highway patrol has not yet released any information about the condition of the trooper.
The Nevada Department of Transportation said that US-93 was shut down in both directions, KRXI reported.
