BREAKING: Multiple People Stabbed in Mall of America

At least three people have been stabbed inside of the Mall of America.

Bloomington, MN - At least three people have been stabbed inside of the Mall of America Sunday night.

Star Tribune reports that the stabbing happened just after 6:45 pm in the Macy's store.

The victims were stabbed repeatedly, and their condition has not been released at this time.

The suspect was wounded during the incident, but is now in custody.

A witness spoke with Star Tribune and said, "We saw two cops running toward Macy's. By the time we got to the main area — the men's department is to the right — more police started running in with their guns drawn."

"My daughter could see people lying on the ground who had been stabbed."

She talked to another witness who may have seen the suspect before the attack.

"He saw the man walking through before, talking to himself, really really loudly talking to himself," she said. "Kind of drew attention to himself," the witness said.

UPDATE: Bloomington police advise that the incident happened after a thief tried to steal another man's belongings in the changing room. The victim spotted the suspect and the suspect started stabbing him. The victim called for help and a family member who responded to help was also stabbed. The victims were able to disarm the suspect and hold him for police.

The victims are stable and the suspect suffered minor injuries from the scuffle.

SMH again at what is wrong with this country? It seems every day there is another scene of violence with more than one victim. I don't have the answer, besides turning back to Christianity and Morals, but someone better figure this all out!! Our country is not the country I grew up in and I want it back!!

Not sure Christianity will fix this. Plenty of non- Christian people that would never do this. It is a different generation of people that think they are entitled an the result of broken families. We have done it to ourselves. People are selfish and need to start thinking about others and our communities.

I am not Christian and I am from a "broken family" I do not feel entitled, I do not lack morals. Maybe the problem is that everyone is judging all the time. I would never harm another living soul. I volunteer my time and love and respect people for their character not their sexuality, race, belief system or identifying gender. To say people need to go back to a religion is absurd. There is violence in those books. Many wars have been fought in the name of some deity. I don't need a book or a deity to tell me not to stab someone. I don't even need one to tell me that stealing things that don't belong to me is wrong. I don't do it because I don't want someone to do it to me.

I would love to know how broken families come in to play here? Do you think not having a father figure causes people to lack certain traits? I would love to know what those of us that grew up without a father, had a mother that did all she could to make things work, and struggled are lacking in character. I for one learned to work hard from my mother. From the people that helped us when we couldn't get by, I learned to give back, help others and treat everyone with respect because you don't always know their story. I don't feel I lack much in my world so maybe you are wiser and can help me find where I must improve.

"People are selfish and need to start thinking about others and our communities." This is what Christianity teaches and yes, when we were a more Christian society, mass murder was not a regular event.

Religion will not solve the issue. Ridiculous! Understanding how we can educate, respond to mental illness and work to change mindsets in ways people understand is what we need. There will always be bad people in the world but they are far, far outnumbered by the good.
