BREAKING: Montgomery County Police Officer Shot

A Montgomery County police officer was shot on the top deck of a Silver Spring parking garage on Monday morning.

Silver Spring, MD – A Montgomery County police officer was shot at a parking garage in Silver Spring on Monday morning.

Police said that officer was on “a routine patrol” when he called out with disorderly subjects from the top of a parking garage at Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive at about 8:49 a.m., WRC reported.

A Montgomery County police spokesman said at a press conference from the scene that responding officers arrived on the top of the parking garage and found the officer suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police radio traffic from the scene showed the first officer to arrive called out a “Signal 13,” indicating an officer was in trouble, and advised that an officer had been shot.

“Shut down everything. Get everybody down here,” the officer told the dispatcher.

The wounded officer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, WTTG reported.

The police spokesman said the officer’s current condition is unknown.

Citizens have been asked to avoid the area while police look for suspects.

Police said at this time they do not know how many suspects may be involved.

Police have not yet identified the wounded officer. They also have not said whether the officer’s bodycam was activated when he was shot.

I wonder whether stricter gun control laws, at the federal level, would have prevented this painful, and potentially debilitating, gunshot wound to the body of the police officer.

Suicide by cop. Trying to get extra credit and money by blaming it was a group of disorderly suspects (ie, black men).

I'd like to say that I feel bad for the officer, but in light of the recent police murders of Botham Jean and that woman recently in Texas, I don't feel anything for the officer, I have absolutely no sympathy for this officer. None at all. Sorry not sorry. He should get a speedy recovery, though.

No suspect information? I agree, this sounds like he popped himself like the cop in Los Angeles.

Why is it taking so long for this site to post a story about the officer who shot the woman playing video games with her nephew in her own home?

His last act on earth was to report false criminal activity and murder himself attempting to blame his suicide on an innocent person. What a POS! They need to review every arrest and conviction he was involved in and if there was not another officer to back up the story release all charges and convictions.
