BREAKING: Memphis Officer In Critical Condition After Crash
Memphis, TN – A female Memphis police officer was in critical condition after an on-duty car crash on Friday morning.
The single-vehicle wreck occurred at about 10:42 a.m. on Dec. 13 in the 6000-block of Mt. Moriah, near the intersection of Ridgeway Road at Bill Morris Parkway, WREG reported.
Memphis Police Spokesperson Louis Brownlee said the officer’s car had flipped over twice during the crash, the Commercial Appeal reported.
Social media posts indicated that witnesses and bystanders rushed en masse to help flip the police vehicle back over onto its wheels after the tremendous wreck as first responders began arriving on the scene.
“Terrible accident in front of the radio station...thoughts and prayers to the officer who may have been injured...thank you to those who ran to help turn the police car back over after it flipped!!” @Q1075 tweeted.
The injured officer was transported to the hospital and the police department spokesperson said her condition had improved with treatment, according to the Commercial Appeal.
"She had some good luck going for her today," Brownlee said.
Brownlee said investigators were working to determine the cause of the crash, the Commercial Appeal reported.
