BREAKING: Man Randomly Starts Stabbing People In Front Of Police Officer
Pittsburgh, PA – A woman was fatally stabbed as she sat talking to a Pittsburgh police officer at a bus stop on Thursday.
The stabbing occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 8 at a bus stop outside the Burlington Coat Factory on Sixth Avenue, WPXI reported.
Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert said the officer was checking on the woman, who appeared to be sleeping at the bus stop, according to WTAE.
Chief Schubert said a man came around from behind the police officer and stabbed the woman with a knife.
Then police said he turned around and stabbed another woman at the bus stop, WTAE reported.
Chief Schubert said that the officer immediately took the suspect to the ground and arrested him.
Once the suspect was in custody, the chief said that the officer began performing first aid on the wounded women, WTAW reported.
One witness told WPXI that at least one of the victims was wearing a hijab at the time of the attack.
Authorities have not yet confirmed those reports.
The victims were transported to the hospital where one of them died. The other woman was being treated for her injuries.
