BREAKING: Louisiana Officer Shot By Gunman

A Shreveport police officer was shot on Monday morning and the scene is still reportedly active.

Shreveport, LA – A Shreveport police officer was shot on Monday morning and the scene is still active.

Officials said they were investigating an incident occurred on April 6 near the intersection of Bert Kouns Industrial Drive and Walker Road, KSLA reported.

The wounded officer was transported to the hospital.

The officer’s condition is unknown, KSLA reported.

KTBS reported that the Caddo Parish 911 map showed 30 Shreveport police vehicles, eight Caddo Parish sheriff's vehicles, and eight Shreveport fire department units at the scene.

A Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman referred reporters to the Shreveport Police Department because of the “severity of the situation.”

Reports on social media were that the scene was not secure and residents should avoid the area.

Update: The officer is reportedly in "stable" condition.
