@Burgers Allday...I wonder weather stricter gun control laws at the federal level could have prevented this tragedy

Stricker gun control laws? They are already there. The problem is that liberals don't know how to use them properly. I will say this...no law will ever stop the evil from doing harm. I don't care if its a knife, ball bat, etc. Please give this some thought ok?

Burgers, the suspect already ignored in place gun control. One of the charges against him is "possession of a firearm by a felon." But we all know how much respect criminals have for the law, right? Prayers for the officer, his family and department.

"Burgers", a government-enforced requirement for insurance on guns would amount to registration of guns, which is constitutionally forbidden in the State of Florida, among others, because the only governmental use for registration would be confiscation. It would also constitute the imposition of a fee for the exercise of a fundamental constitutional right, like requiring you to pay for a license to speak about these matters.
The current potential penalties in law for misuse of firearms are strict enough to influence many law-abiding gun-owners to voluntarily insure themselves with special protections for their weapons and liability issues, but the key concept here, that so many people seem to ignore, is "law-abiding". These murderers and criminals are not that, so your proposed laws would be ineffective in regulating their behaviors, while making governmental abuse of power more possible and even more likely, as it is in most other insurance regulations. Do you know that even independently wealthy people, for example, are not allowed to self-insure, in many cases, because the government requires them to buy third party insurance? The only true "beneficiaries" of such laws are crony capitalists and corrupt politicians.
Corrupt and abusive government regulation and denial of rights to ordinary citizens is exactly why the second amendment was written in the manner it was.
Prayers for the fallen officers, their friends and family, and pray for real "sense" in the "gun-control" argument.

Thank BO for the war on cops. And the continuation funded by Soros, who is behind the shadow government 1000%, to take America down...which means to take President Trump down too. B/C as long as he’s in the WH, there will be a blockage to their yellow brick road to their goal of, ‘One World Government’. People have no idea what’s really going on in secret. They have been successfully Dumbed Down for years, just for times as this. Bait for the taking....except Donald won, instead of HitLIARy. They didn’t plan on that....So the ‘seige’ Now focuses on him, too.
People desperately need to Wake Up & smell the RATS.
