BREAKING: Body Of 3 Year Old Mariah Woods Found

The body of Mariah Woods was found on Saturday after an arrest was made in her disappearance.

Jacksonville, NC – Authorities have found the body of a young girl on Saturday, which is believed to be 3-year-old Mariah Woods, according to WRAL.

Sheriff Hans Miller made the announcement Saturday night and said that the family has been notified that her body has been found.

UPDATE: Her body was found by divers in Pender County creek, 25 miles from her home.

Investigators said in a Saturday morning press release that they believed Mariah was deceased, and her mother's boyfriend was arrested.

Earl Kimrey, 32, has been charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second degree burglary, felony larceny, and possession of stolen property.

Kimrey is the live-in-boyfriend of Kristy Woods, who is Mariah’s mother.

The warrant for Kimrey says he obstructed justice by "removing Mariah Woods' body from the scene of her death and did conceal Mariah Woods' death and body, knowing that Mariah Woods died from unnatural causes. The defendant acted with deceit and intent to fraud."

Kristy reported her daughter missing at 6 a.m. Monday morning.

She told investigators she put Mariah to bed on Sunday night, and that she last saw the little girl at 11 p.m. when she checked on her, Fox News reported.

Kimrey said he spoke to Mariah when she woke up around midnight, and that he told the child to go back to bed. Authorities said he was the last person to see her.

Two other children, Kristy’s five and ten-year-old sons, were also in the home when Mariah disappeared.

Family members said there was no sign of forced entry or evidence of a struggle at the house, CBS News reported.

Law enforcement officers, firefighters and Marines were joined by over 700 volunteers in a massive search effort that covered “hundreds of acres,” WRAL reported.

More than 225 state and federal investigators have been working on the case, officials told WTVD. They have conducted nearly 100 interviews and followed up on over 140 leads.

“Our team has sorted through 95,000 pounds of trash by hand looking for anything that could offer information to us to help find Mariah," said FBI supervisor Stanley Meador told WITN.

Searchers have walked countless miles, and also used horses, boats, drones, and divers with underwater sonar in efforts to locate the missing toddler.

“Due to evidence gathered during the course of the investigation, it is believed that Mariah is deceased,” the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office said early Saturday. “At this time, the location of Mariah is unknown. The searches will now shift to a recovery process.”

On Tuesday, Mariah’s biological father, Alex Woods, told WTCI that Kristy had not allowed him to see his daughter for a year before her disappearance, despite a custody agreement he claims gave him weekend visitation.

Alex is also the biological father of Kristy’s two sons.

He said he first heard about his daughter’s disappearance in a radio alert, and that he doesn’t understand how Mariah could have been abducted from the home without anyone noticing.

"Somebody just, walked right up in there, grabbed the three-year-old out the bed - she didn't cry, she didn't scream. Nobody heard nothing?" he questioned.

Alex told WTCI he believed Kristy and Kimrey had “something to do with it.”

According to WTCI, Kimrey’s criminal history dates back to 2005, when he was convicted of larceny. His jail sentence was suspended, and he was placed on probation.

He received a similar sentence following convictions for assault or threatening of a government official and being drunk and disorderly in 2012.

In 2015, Kimrey was again convicted of larceny, and received another term of probation with a suspended jail sentence.

Kimrey is being held at the Onslow County jail on $1,010,000 bond. Authorities said on Saturday that additional charges may be filed as investigation continues.

Rest in the arms of Jesus, sweet baby.

Mariah is home with the angels now where no one will ever hurt her again! Sleep well, little one!

If he's found guilty his punishment on earth won't be enough. How anyone could harm a little one much less kill them is despicable.

Over and over, in cases such as this, my late sister always said 'Look for the boyfriend." She was right so much of the time.

Okay, he's charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second degree burglary, felony larceny, and possession of stolen property...but he's not been charged with murder? So who killed this baby? Him? Mom? Who??? There's more to this than is being reported.

I think they will probably charge once the autopsy is finished, but idk how this mom didn’t know something happened and all the details. Another situation where a desperate woman moves a boyfriend in with her when she has children that are not his and on top of that bad decision, let them play daddy. Prayers for the family, first responders and volunteers who tried helping.

I believe she knew. She said on tv my LAST memory of her was blah blah. How did she know that was her last & what an odd thing to say. Plus she never called the dad to see of he had her even tho they were in a heated custody battle. Speaks volumes

Another case of "Mommy's live in peen strikes again"

The choices these gals make - they clearly do not have their children’s best interests at heart. God bless the little ones!
