BREAKING: Anti-Police Activists Block NYC Train Terminal, Arrests Have Started

Sandy Malone

Anti-police protesters, who want NYC's transit system to be free and clear of law enforcement, wreaked havoc on Friday.

New York, NY – Anti-police protesters took to the streets of New York City on Friday evening to call for removing law enforcement from the transit system and making the subway and buses free.

Anti-police activists and antifa were said to be the organizers behind a city-wide call via social media for people to protest and “f--k s--t up” throughout the city’s transit system on Jan. 31.

Police were stationed at subway stops and train terminals across the city to put a stop to the disruptions as they began.

But unlike the successful Nov. 1, 2019 anti-police protest that created chaos in Brooklyn, the Jan. 31 marches appeared to be popping up all over the city, not just in one borough.

Commuters found themselves unable to get to their trains on Friday evening as protesters blocked their paths in Grand Central Terminal, according to reports on social media.

The disruption inside the train station resulted in police making some arrests.

Officers have been responding to reported vandalism on subway card scanners on turnstiles and graffiti on stations and buses all day.

Police were filmed chasing down a man described as an antifa rioter and arresting him although no details about the arrest were yet available.

The New York Police Department has not released any information on the number of protesters so far arrested as the protest continues to grow in size into the evening hours.

The disruptive demonstration is not the first of its kinda in New York City in recent months.

Backers ginned up their enthusiasm and advocated protests again after 500 new subway cops were sworn in to the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) on Jan. 23 despite activists’ demands for a free transit system without law enforcement officers, the New York City Patch reported.

A police-hating, pro-Palestinian, Black Lives Matter-associated group tweeting under the handle “DecolonizeThisPlace” posted a video to Twitter on Tuesday calling for protesters to “f--k s--t up on J31” (Jan. 31).

“The streets are ours. The trains our ours. The walls are ours. This moment is ours. How will you and your crew build and f--k shit up for #FTP3 on #J31 (THIS FRIDAY)? Issa mothaf--kin' movement,” @decolonize_this tweeted on Jan. 28.

The video featured three masked protesters, one of whom delivered a message to those whom he hoped would join their violent demonstration.

“To all our friends, families, students, wage workers, teachers, musicians, transit workers,” the video began. “F--k the Police 3 is coming J31 right here in New York City. We encourage you to link up with your friends, your family, and think of the ways you can more in affinity to build and f--k s--t up on J31 all day long.”

“Pay attention to our social media where we’re going to post the meet up location so that we can converge and move together later that evening,” he added in the video.

“The mood for J31 is simple: F--k your $2.75. No cops in the MTA. Free transit. No harassment, period. And full accessibility,” the masked protester said. “We hope that you come through and move with us on J31. F--k the police. What will you do on J31?”

The end of the video showed the “city-wide convergence” was planned for 5 p.m. on Jan. 31 at Grand Central Terminal.

What a great way to effect positive change! Protest and f--k s--t up! Why didn't I think of that?

I miss the good ole days when the cops would go in with batons swinging and crack the heads of these a$$holes!

God forbid any of them get hurt while getting arrested, they'll blame the police for trying to gain some control, and protect people and property. I think the police should listen and just go home. Let these idiots protesting find out how dangerous it is out there without the police being around. More than half these idiots who showed up probably don't have a clue about why they're there, they just wanted an excuse to destroy stuff.

This is the kind of stuff that happens when you take the side of the idiots against the Police. The civilized citizens of NY need to wake up and replace the idiots in the local government with adults.

Anti-First Amendment rectums ruining an already sullied and disgusting transit system. I can't wait until they head back to the left coast.

Can anyone even begin to imagine what the NY subway system would turn into if there were no police in the subways!? It would be a killing field with all the thugs feeding off the mindless citizens that would wonder into the subways. In less then 24 hours no one would be in the trains and NYC, with all of its businesses would shut down. Anarchy.

I wonder if the MTA will need to raise the fair to $3 to cover the damage done by the vandals during the protests.

Random. Question: does the MTA police have jurisdiction over the subways, or does that fall on NYPD's transit officers?

And when a protester gets robbed on a police-free train, who they gonna call???

This is what happens when the inmates run the asylum!!! Thanks to the New York Governor, State Legislature and Mayor DeBozo for your diminished skills in leadership, thus ripping apart your state with your less than desirable policies, laws, and opinions. You sure have made a mark in New York for years to come!

New York has been destroyed by the liberal radicals and thug voters.
The police need to shut down and watch these punks destroy each other.

Give them what they want. Pull the police from the subway system and turn it over to the sewer rats with no power to the subway system.

They don’t want to pay for it and have to be taught that nothing comes for free in life. Maybe then the good people of New York will have had enough of this mayor that would be king and elect someone to clean their God forsaken city up.

Every time I read stories about this area of the country, I couldn't be happier with my decision to move to the south. Right now, the highways are jampacked with moving vans for people looking to escape the madness.

The sad thing, all the crime committed will result in the perpetrators being released short of murder.

Another failure of inner city leaders to hold their own activists accountable. Urban culture has developed poor habits. They lack respect for the law, their communities, the police, and most importantly, themselves.

Disgusting how they brainwash urban youth to live high risk high reward lifestyles, and incentivize them toward lives of crime. Killing their imaginations with cough syrup and Fanta. Absolutely despicable. Yet, the police do their jobs in New York every day trying to make it just a little bit better than yesterday. all urban youth and inner city leaders owe those men and women in the NYPD a debt of gratitude.

True Demoncratic liberals, claim they own the streets, trains, etc., but not one of them has ever worked a day in their pitiful life. I hope some protesters bones get broken.

I miss the old days when crap like this would be stopped in a heartbeat. When people were actually civilized and respected authority and property. When thugs were treated as thugs and heads were thumped as necessary. Gawd I am so glad to be retired as I don't think I could abide by the current "let 'em do as they please" mentality of the electorate. My highest regards to brothers and sisters in blue who endure this and still keep on keeping on!

I have posted on this site my personal opinion on NYC, and it feels more relevant every week. Call in the National Guard 2 assist NYPD in securing the city, bringing protection and reassurance 2 the law-abiding citizens, and taking control of and out of control City.

The MTA Police Department is not responsible for the New York City Subway. The subways are patrolled by the NYPD Transit Bureau under contract since 1994, with assistance from 500 MTAPD officers which have been stationed in transit since 2019 to address farebeating and homelessness
