Multiple victims have been reported from an active shooter at UNC Charlotte.

Charlotte, NC - Multiple people were shot by an active shooter at the University of North Carolina Charlotte campus Tuesday evening.

The incident is ongoing, so details are preliminary at this point.

At least 3 people have been shot and the suspect is in custody, according to WSOC reporter Allison Latos.

The extent of injuries is unknown at this time. UPDATE: At least 2 confirmed dead.

Scanner traffic indicates that officers are concerned with a suspicious package in the area.

UPDATE: Allison Latos reports that five people have been shot, with two dead and three more wounded. She also reports that sources have told her that the suspect is a male student.
