BREAKING: Active Shooter Down In Harrisburg, Device Near Body

An active shooter is down after engaging police in a gunfight, but a device is near his body.

Harrisburg, PA - Police responded to an active shooter in Harrisburg on Friday afternoon. The shooter was killed by police, but the bomb squad is responding to a device near the shooter's body.

The shootings occurred in three separate locations across the city in the area of the state Capitol, according to WGAL.

“Shots were also fired at (a) Pennsylvania State Police vehicle. A law enforcement officer was slightly injured,” Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said. "The individual that was involved in that gunfire then came here to the area of 17th and Mulberry Street, where he engaged with members of the Harrisburg Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police. Gunfire was exchanged ... the individual was killed at the scene."

There is a device near the suspect's body and Pennsylvania State Police are responding to handle the device at this time.

There are no reported injuries besides the slightly injured officer and the justifiably-dead gunman.

Gov. Tom Wolf issued the following statement:

"I am grateful for the swift reaction to this incident by Capitol Police, Pennsylvania State Police and City of Harrisburg Police. Our officers were directly in harm's way but they did not hesitate and protected others from harm. This is another reminder of the sacrifice made everyday by law enforcement across Pennsylvania, especially for those of us who spend time in our State Capitol. On behalf of all Pennsylvanians, Frances and I thank the fine men and women of these departments."

UPDATE: The device was determined not to be a threat.
