Dallas, Texas - Law enforcement officers are on scene of an active shooter in the 3200 block of Reynolds Avenue in East Dallas on Monday.
At least one firefighter has been shot, and their condition has not been released. The Dallas Police Association told NBCDFW that officers are pinned down by gunfire from the shooter.
Everybody is being told to avoid the area as this scene is still active and the suspect is still shooting.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the shot firefighter and all first responders on scene.
UPDATE: The firefighter is alive and in surgery Dallas Morning News reports that they may have been hit multiple times. The shooter is still at large and armed with a rifle.
UPDATE: The firefighter in still in surgery in critical condition. A citizen in the area was also shot. The suspect is still at large and all area law enforcement officers have swarmed the area to try to contain the threat.
NBC DFW is reporting that the incident started when a female in a home called 911 for help because her boyfriend was laying on the ground with a rifle and she thought he may have shot himself. The man then got up and ran outside with the gun and opened fire on paramedics and a neighbor.
The injured firefighter is an 11 year veteran of the department.
