BREAKING: 2 Missouri Officers Shot By Barricaded Gunman

A Carter County sheriff's deputy and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper were shot while serving an eviction notice.

Carter County, MO – A Carter County sheriff’s deputy and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper were shot while serving an eviction notice on Friday morning and police are now in a standoff with the gunman.

The incident occurred at about 9:51 a.m. on Aug. 16 near Route M, northwest of Poplar Bluff, in Carter County, KMOV reported.

“Officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol were assisting the Carter County Sheriff’s Department at a residence in rural Carter County near Van Buren, Missouri,” the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote in a statement released shortly after the standoff began. “After attempting to contact the occupant, a male suspect began firing from inside the residence.

“Both a Missouri state trooper and a Carter County deputy were struck by gunfire,” the statement continued. “They have been transported to area hospitals. The suspect remains inside the residence. This incident is ongoing. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Clark Parrott said the suspect shot the Carter County deputy in the leg, groin, and chest, KFVS reported.

He was being airlifted to a shock trauma unit at a St. Louis-area hospital for treatment, KMOV reported. His condition has not been released.

The state trooper was shot in the shoulder and in his ballistic vest, Sgt. Parrott said.

The sergeant said the trooper was expected to recover.

Authorities said the gunman remained holed up inside the home a few miles north of Route M, KMOV reported.

They have asked residents to stay away from the area.

Police have not yet released the name of the gunman, or identified the deputy and trooper whom he wounded.

Carter County is located about 150 miles southwest of St. Louis and has a population of 6,265.

Overwhelming force is necessary in these cases. Both to end THIS standoff and, hopefully, to deter copycats in the future.

B Hussein Obama's legacy the emboldened thugs and the war on cops...now the chief platform of the Democrat party. Embolden the thug, attack and prosecute the cop and disarm the law abiding citizens while ignoring repeat felons and letting them out on parole.

Democrats have morphed into the trade union for America's malignancies.  Thugs, criminals, MS13, dishonest attorneys, Porn Stars, radicals, illegals, and anything else that runs counter to our constitution, norms, laws, or sovereignty is a welcome vote to Democrats.

I'm tired of all this STANDOFF bullshit! BUST THE DOORS OPEN while guarding it with several cops. Throw in a few flash bangs. Send in the K-9s. Or throw a bunch of teargas canisters in there. Bottle of ammonia? ANYTHING but just sit there exchanging fire!

From a perspective of officer safety, it would be interesting to know whether he only started shooting the policeman after they breached the door. Maybe they would have remained unshot if they had not chosen to breach.
