Stockton, CA - The Stockton, California chapter of Black Lives Matter claimed in a Facebook post on Wednesday, that a Starbucks employee had spit in a Stockton Police Officer's coffee. And they were proud of it.
According to news sources, the Stockton Police Department responded to investigate the incident at the Starbucks on Waterloo on Wednesday night. A police spokesperson said that they found no evidence that the incident had occurred. The spokesperson also said that they would not comment about complaints on Officers.
The Facebook page, “Stockton Police Department, Corruption Reporting Page", in a post dated December 28, 2016 at 8:27 PM states "We are very happy to report that today this officer from Stockton Police Department got to have coffee at Starbucks with the public it was hot coffee according to our supporters served with a side of spit they even gave it to him with a smile and a nice comment. #StocktonCopDrinksSpitAtStarbucks".
Below the post is a picture of a white man, a white woman, and a white child, apparently an off-duty picture of the Police Officer and his family, although this has not been confirmed. The Officer was not identified in the post.or by the agency. However, the picture, which appears to be from a Facebook page, has a female name above and below the picture.
In a statement, Starbucks denied the allegation and said that they were proud of their relationship with the Stockton Police Department, and that there was no truth to the post. However, the Stockton chapter of Black Lives Matter confirms that the post is accurate and won't deny it.
A member of the Black Lives Matter Stockton chapter told a news source off-camera that a barista who wants to be anonymous had spit in the Officer's coffee because she was upset. The member also said that a family member of the barista had a problem with the Officer and that their complaints to the Stockton PD about race issues were not being taken seriously. The member also said that a diner in Stockton does the same thing when Officers visit, although they would not name the diner, and suggested to the news source that some reporters should be careful where they buy their food.
Incidents like these are typical of the hate and violence that the Black Lives Matter movement embraces. There are appropriate ways to deal with perceived injustices and this is not one. Our thoughts and prayers are with this Stockton Police Officer, his family, and his blue family. We hope this matter is still under investigation and that whoever is responsible will be held accountable. We hope the allegation is not true, but according to Black Lives Matter, they don't lie.
