Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas Metro PD responded to what was initially reported to be an active shooter at the Bellagio on the Las Vegas strip early Saturday morning.
Several armed suspects entered a high-end jewelry store inside Bellagio Hotel and Casino and fired shots. Nobody was hit.
At least one suspect was spotted guarding the front while wearing a pig mask and carrying a sledgehammer.
According to New York Daily News, Police officers swarmed in and the area was placed on lockdown for about half an hour.
Preliminary information is that the suspects used sledgehammers to break into the store.
Las Vegas Metro PD later clarified that the incient was a robbery, not an active shooter. On twitter they posted:
Currently investigating burglary at @bellagio. Initial reports indicated there was an “active shooter” which was false. NO injuries.
Minor injuries were reported on social media from people being trampled as people fled the area.
Las Vegas metro PD has at least one suspect in custody.
