Armed NFL Player Gets Taken Down With Taser In Fight With Cops

Police say that they used a Taser on Daryl Worley after he became combative.

Philadelphia, PA – Police say that National Football League (NFL) player Daryl Worley was found passed out inside his vehicle with a gun, and fought the cops when they found him.

Worley, a defensive back with the Philadelphia Eagles, was arrested at 6 a.m. Sunday with an unregistered gun in his possession, according to WPVI-TV.

During the incident, Worley became combative with police and was Tasered, according to the NFL Network.

Worley, who had a salary of $650,000 for 2018, was being held at Philadelphia police headquarters on Sunday, according to WPVI.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Twitter they were releasing Worley with a tweet at 5:32 p.m. April 15: “Roster Move: #Eagles have released CB Daryl Worley.”

Worley grew up in North Philadelphia but won’t get a chance to play for his hometown Eagles.

Fortunato Perri, the attorney for Worley, spoke to WPVI after speaking with his client on Sunday.

"It's a very unfortunate situation, he hasn't had an opportunity," said Perri. "He can maintain his career."

This wasn’t Worley’s first brush with the law.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Worley entered a no-contest plea in 2014 to misdemeanor assault and was given a six-month suspended sentence for an altercation with a woman outside a West Virginia bar.

At the time of that 2014 incident, Worley said he was defending his girlfriend.

“It was a simple situation where it was wrong place at the wrong time. There [was] nothing malicious about the incident,” Worley said, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. “All 32 teams have seen the videotape. They have the official court documents which I gave to them where there was nothing malicious about it.

Worley was a third-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2016 after playing college football at West Virginia. Worley came to the Eagles in March when the Eagles traded Torrey Smith to Carolina.

And this is what is wrong with our country. Kids today look up to these professional players and make them their heros. Yet the big pay check in a poor kids hands, what did you expect. The ego gets the best of them and they think they're above the law.

What is this "attorney" smoking? " he hasn't had an opportunity," said Perri. "He can maintain his career.""... Worley DID have a great opportunity. I wish I could get a contract for $650 K over 10 years.

SMH No big surprise, here. They put these ignorant thugs on teams, pay them money they have no clue about handling & then expect them to be rational thinkers, who are not going to cause any trouble for anyone. A team & huge $ isn’t going to solve their issues. Just cause more for others.

How is that racist? Is it a case where anyone who dislikes Obama does so because he is part black? That's the problem with the overuse of the word "racist". It no longer has the power it once had because people use it anytime they dislike something you say.

Sad when you see these guys with talent earning a hefty salary throw it all away because they start to think they are better than 'common folk' and therefore above the law. They have a responsibility to their team to make them look good on AND off the field, and a responsibility to their fans to be a GOOD example to society. Hard lesson to learn. Perhaps the good of it is, that it will open up a spot for the next great college player to have a go at NFL and do better.

Racist? No, you would be the racist on calling the commentator out because nowhere did he imply it was because he was black. It's his thuggish ways not the color of his doin. You can bet your ass if the same happened to a white guy you wouldn't open your mouth. But because he broke the law and was black and got caught now you and others will cry foul. Anybody of any color can be a thug. This one just happens to be black
