An Attempted Cop-Killer Has Escaped From Jail And Is Running Free

Authorities are hunting for 30-year-old John Kaleb Gillespie, who escaped from the Morgan County jail on Saturday.

Decatur, AL – A violent sex offender facing drug trafficking and attempted murder charges escaped from the Morgan County jail on Saturday.

Authorities described 30-year-old John Kaleb Gillespie as six-feet-tall, 180 pounds, and dangerous, with a history of violence against law enforcement officers, AL.com reported.

“It appears that he was able to successfully scale a portion of our of rec yards, and made it through some razor wire,” a spokesman for the Morgan County jail told WHNT.

The escape occurred at about noon on Oct. 27 and prison officials found a makeshift rope hanging down the side of one of the facility’s walls shortly thereafter.

Gillespie was arrested in 2018 on warrants for the attempted murders of a Moulton police officer and an Alabama state trooper stemming from an incident that occurred on Nov. 3, 2018, AL.com reported.

Authorities said Gillespie, who was wanted on drug trafficking warrants at the time, escaped from at least four pursuits by Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies and tried to run over a state trooper in the process.

Records showed he was being held without bond in the Morgan County jail on charges of marijuana trafficking, attempting to promote prison contraband, and violating Alabama’s sex offender registration laws, AL.com reported.

Gillespie pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory rape in Morgan County in October of 2009 and has been required to register as a sex offender in Alabama since then.

His recent arrest history included a probation violation on the rape plea deal, according to AL.com

Gillespie was charged inside the jail with attempting to promote prison contraband in June.

Moulton Police Chief Larry McWhorter said Gillespie was still facing the attempted murder charge for trying to run over the state trooper, AL.com reported.

Officials warned anyone who spotted the violent sex offender to call 911 immediately.

Morgan County Sheriff’s Office officials said no one should approach or try to apprehend Gillespie because of his “violent history with Law Enforcement,” according to AL.com.

So who lost their job? If the answer is no one, then why should we be concerned if the jail isn't?

If the know that this person is such a piece of work let the US MARSHALS go after him and maybe you will get lucky and they will neutralize him. Problem solve.
