Olathe, KS – An actress who had a role in the 2011 movie Captain America: The First Avenger has been accused of stabbing her mother to death inside their home.
Mollie Fitzgerald, 38, was arrested on Tuesday and has been charged with second-degree murder, according to the Kansas City Star.
Patricia Fitzgerald, 68, was found dead Dec. 20 in her home. Mollie Fitzgerald was held on a $500,000 bond, the Kansas City Star reported.
Mollie Fitzgerald told a judge on Thursday that she would represent herself in court. The actress said she has a law degree from the University of Houston, according to the Kansas City Star. She also objected to Corey Jackson, her ex-husband, being called as a witness in the case.
In the Captain America movie, Fitzgerald is a dancer referred to as a “Stark Girl” who approaches the Howard Stark character during a musical act and kisses him as the crowd cheers.
“Being a part of this production has been one of the best experiences of my life," Fitzgerald said in 2011, according to the Associated Press.
Fitzgerald has six acting credits listed on her biography on the Internet Movie Database. She has written and directed a short video titled, “King of Wishful Thinking.” That is listed as being in post-production.
"We were shocked," The victim's brother said, according to WTKR. But "it doesn't matter the circumstances - the loss of a sister is what it's all about."
