Gainesville, FL – A 65-year-old Florida woman used a baseball bat to fend off a 300-pound man attempting to break in to her vehicle.
Clarese Gainey heard a noise on Sunday morning inside her house and saw a man in his underwear pulling at the door handle of her car.
When she saw him, the man was knocking on the window of the car and trying to get in.
That's when Gainey got her baseball bat and opened up her house door to confront him.
After she opened the door, 5-foot-6, 300-pound Antonio Mosely charged her, according to WGFL.
Gainey said she braced herself and then hit Mosely with the bat in the head. Gainey was a high school softball player, according to WGFL.
"I took that bat and hit him upside the head like 'pi-yah!' He said 'Ow!'" Gainey told WGFL.
Mosely ran into a nearby mobile home park and left behind his pants, shirt and a sock.
Gainey called 911 to report the incident. Police arrived and a K-9 unit tracked Mosely inside a mobile home where they found him wearing a new pair of pants with cocaine in his pocket, WGFL reported.
It was not reported if Mosely claimed ownership of the pants.
The police brought Mosely back to Gainey and was able to identify her attacked along with the injury to his head.
“I said, ‘That’s him right there,’” Gainey told WGFL. “They said, ‘Miss Gainey, he’s got a big knot on his head.’”
Mosely was held in Alachua County jail. Mosely was charged with attempted burglary to an occupied dwelling, attempted unarmed burglary to an unoccupied conveyance and possession of a controlled substance, according to the Epoch Times.
His bail was set at $15,000.
“He better be glad I didn't have a gun," Gainey told WGFL. "Because I would have shot him. But this is my gun right here. Because I gone 'Pi-yow!'"
