21 Year Old Brags Online About Not Social Distancing, Gets Coronavirus

A 21-year-old woman said in a video she didn't think she would get coronavirus but then contracted it.

Nashville, TN – A woman was recently diagnosed with Coronavirus after bragging online about not social distancing.

In a video she posted on social media, 21-year-old Ireland Tate said she didn’t think she would get the coronavirus.

“So, I’m aware that we’re supposed to be self-quarantining and social distancing all these things to keep everyone safe. Cool. I get it,” Tate said in a video, according to WZTV. “I just don’t think that I’m going to get the virus.”

When a city leader suggested social distancing and not getting together in groups with 10 or more people, Tate and 20 of her friends met at a friend's house.

Tate and her friends also went out in public. One of Tate’s friends was carrying the coronavirus, WZTV reported.

Tate was diagnosed with the deadly virus days later.

Now Tate has a different attitude about the virus.

“It feels like someone is sitting on my chest at all times. It’s really hard to breathe. I’ve coughed until my throat has bled,” Tate said, according to WZTV.

Tate said the youth are not taking the threat seriously.

Dr. James Hildreth, the president of Meharry Medical College and part of Nashville’s Coronavirus Task Force, said he is worried young people were like Tate and not following precautions.

“There are still those who only believe that the virus affects those who are elderly and with underlying conditions. That’s clearly not the case,” Hildreth said, according to WZTV.

Tate is quarantined at her parents’ home. She is now telling people her age to follow precautions advised by medical experts.

“While it may not be affecting you, you could be affecting someone’s grandma or grandpa or aunt or uncle or sister,” said Tate, according to WZTV.

Tennessee had 224 people ages 21-30 who tested positive for the virus as of March 25, according to WZTV.

I have no sympathy for this girl. I think she should dwell and ponder while she lay there sick as hell thinking about the careless and selfish actions took totally ignoring top health and government officials telling people to stay home and avoid big get togethers. She has no regard for her fellow human beings. Obviously, she didn't realize that she has now put her loved ones at risk because she felt invincible. She's singing a different tune now. Makes me very sad and extremely MAD!!!

I am pissed at this young lady and all the young punks out there that think this way. How she has effected untold numbers of people, people she knows and people she doesn't know. What is wrong with you young people? Damn, listen when you're told something! All you do is prove how stupid you are! You don't like to be told shit, you think people are just telling you stuff to be mean. Now it sounds like people are picking on you, are too controlling over you, are just being dicks to you. BUT, damn it, if you'd only listen! Now it's too late and you have no idea how many other peoples lives you have screwed up, and how many people you may cause to lose their lives. Just f'en listen when your told something. There usually is a good reason why you're being told to behave a certain way. Yeah, it sounds mean, controlling, demanding, but most the time who's correct. Same thing, get off the phone while driving. That goes for everybody also! One screw up and you can't take it back. I wish this young lady the best and pray that she hasn't affected anyone else. All we ask is just listen, no one is telling you things to be mean. You're being told things cause people care about you! May God take care of you and all your loved ones.

This is my opinion only:
The one reason the young kids aren't taking this very serious is;
News reports keep saying mostly that it's an older person that are getting coronavirus. I understand it may affect older people more, myself being there, but just need to express more for all ages. I have a daughter that's almost 40 and 3 granddaughters, between 18-11, one being a type 1 diabetic. Every time I try to explain that she has to take precautions, she kept saying mom it's mostly just like the flu and it's hitting the older people mostly. More I tried to tell her the last few weeks, she wouldn't listen to me because most of what she was reading or listening to with China and it starting in United States kept pushing it was killing the older people and younger people if they had medical problems. Now that it's getting closer to our area, now she finally listening to me. I keep forgetting that this generation think the older generation grew up under rocks and we don't know shit.😃
It does not discriminate on age.

This is the exact reason why the virus is spreading like wildfires in the West. It's people's entitlement attitude and lack of respect for the authority. I hope she DIE. Why waste our valuable resources for these selfish and inconsiderate scum?

Why would you say something so horrible about someone. Yep, she made a big mistake and now she's paying for it and yes it could take her life if she doesn't do what she's told. But she wouldn't be in this situation if she would've just followed directions. I hope you don't get sick because I know you wouldn't want someone to tell you "I hope you die". Be safe out out there!!

She could have ultimately infected hundreds and killed some. No pity here......

Absolutely! 👍🏻 Zero tolerance for these people who think they are so smart and putting so many others at risk in the process. What goes around, comes around. Maybe next time she’ll stop thinking only about herself and have a little respect for others. This one was definitely deserved.

Face it, MOST of the media is not reporting enough that the elderly are NOT the only ones at risk. She's learned, in the worst way, how wrong she was. Might watch what you say, cos, you never know if your words will come back in Karma. I'm no Sympathy Aunt type, but everyone can learn from her lesson.

You’re as f***ed up as her. You wish she would DIE because she’s young, selfish and ignorant? SHAME ON YOU.

Honey, just because you're 21 doesn't mean you are invincible!!!!!! Remember that those of you 15-30, you can face death, it does not discriminate!

She was stupid but is fueled by the lies from all the media. Class action lawsuits should be filed to at least suspend their broadcast Licenses for 30-90 days since they have contributed to Covid-19 illnesses and deaths.

There’s one reason I can’t stand some young people especially those around my age. I never got that feeling of being “invincible” in my teen years (or at any age), but I’ve had thrilling adventures where every mom would have had a heart attack just watching. Lol

Disclaimer: The closest I ever got to invincibility is after I finish a workout feeling like a beast ready for more. Don’t know how else to describe it.

There’s quite a bit of hate going towards this young lady. Look around, my neighbors are having family gatherings every day. Stores are open, and so the spreading continues. This lady is 21, but each whiner on the thread who visited a store, met the mailman, went to work, and so forth is just as guilty. I’ll give a pass to those who blamed the media for characterizing this bad an “old or sick “ person illness because that was the initial reporting.

I can tell you right now, I don't believe a single story about the virus. You can lie to the masses but there is always that small number of people that know the truth. Last night we flipped on the local news which we rarely do anymore, and they reported 25 cases in our county. My wife starts laughing because she works at both hospitals in our county and she knew it was 100% raw bullshit. Every single number you hear from the media is far from accurate!

Thanks for spreading the virus and the possibility of killing other Americans. You should be arrested and thrown in solitary confinement.

Years of "snowplow parents" who push every potentially harmful thing out of their kids path, or take the blame for their kids mistakes is catching up with those kids. When you've had a life without consequences, consequences seem doubly tough.

"Kids" have to have their own way or they will pout and throw a tantrum. I blame the parents for indulging their kids. Well, look what we have now. Self serving, selfish nasty kids. Suck it up buttercup....life doesn't revolve around you. You'll have your little feelings hurt when you have to get a real job and suffer it's consequences when you screw up because you didn't do what was asked of you. You will also have to find out how much things cost unless mommy/daddy let you stay at home and not pay rent/food/utilities/insurance/car payments. Reality sucks sweetie.
My folks made me take care of myself once I turned 18. When I borrowed money I HAD TO PAY IT BACK. I was respectful to the point that even at the age I am I still call people sir or mam, please and thank you..... Maybe employers should have a cry room to deal with their new "staff". Good luck.

This is so ridiculous and now who knows how many more people will be infected. I don't feel sorry for her. Just like here, the UT college kids who went on spring break anyway and came back infected and worst yet..their parents are upset their not getting their freaking refunds back for the trip. Apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.
I think people like this should face jail time. Serious jail time because some people may not make it all because of their stupidity.
