Hero Down: Will County Deputy Correctional Officer Kevin Brewer Dies Unexpectedly On-Duty

Will County Deputy Correctional Officer and ERT member Kevin Brewer died unexpectedly at work Saturday night.

Will County, IL - Will County Deputy Correctional Officer Kevin Brewer, age 37, died unexpectedly while on-duty Saturday night, October 14.

He was on-duty at the downtown jail facility when he was rushed by ambulance to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, where he later died, according to Patch.com .

Will County Coroner Kevin Stevenson said that a cause of death has not been established yet, and that he is waiting on results from additional tests.

In a Facebook post , the Will County Sheriff's Office said:

"It is with great grief and sadness that we say goodbye to our friend and coworker, Deputy Correctional Officer/ERT Kevin Brewer.

Kevin was on duty Saturday night at the Will County Adult Detention Facility and was transported to St. Joe's Hospital where he subsequently passed away.

Kevin began his career at the Sheriff's Office in 2007. Administrators, supervisors, and coworkers, describe Kevin as being "truly a great guy and a wonderful family man."

The news of his sudden death has shocked the entire Will County Sheriff's Office. We will keep Kevin in our hearts forever.

We extend our deepest condolences to Kevin's wife, three daughters, and to his family and friends."

Officer Brewer was a member of the ERT (Emergency Response Team), and was a 10-year veteran of the agency.

The wake for Officer Brewer will be held on October 19 from noon to 8 PM at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home at Black Road and Essington in Joliet. His funeral will be on Friday.

Officer Brewer is survived by his wife, Joliet City Council Woman At Large Brook Hernandez Brewer, and their three young daughters.
