Hero Down: Saratoga County Deputy Sheriff John Brown Dies While Training For Triathlon

Deputy Sheriff John Brown was on a training run when he died on Sunday.

Saratoga County, NY - Saratoga County Deputy Sheriff John Brown died during a training run on Sunday, November 12. He was off-duty at the time.

Deputy Brown was running in the Albany area, preparing for a triathlon, when he experienced a medical problem, according to the Post-Star.

In a social media post , the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said:

"It is with great shock and sadness that Sheriff Zurlo must announce the tragic death of Deputy Sheriff John Brown this afternoon. Deputy Brown, who was a triathlete, collapsed while on a training run in Albany."

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office PBA said in a Facebook post:

"Tonight we are mourning the loss of our Brother John Brown who died today during a training run in preparation of an upcoming triathlon. John had a huge smile and an unforgettable laugh. John was not just a Sheriff's Deputy; he's a Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle, Marine Corps Veteran, friend and so much more..."

He had worked for the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office for more than 10 years.

Deputy Brown was a triathlete and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He survived by his wife and three-year-old son.
