Hero Down: Newark Police Officer Andy Jimenez Dies After Suffering Heart Attack
Newark, NH – Newark Police Department (NPD) Officer Andy Jimenez died on Monday after suffering a heart attack, according to his department.
The 55-year-old officer served the NPD for nearly two decades.
“We are saddened by the passing of our dear brother, Officer Andy Jimenez, who faithfully served the people of the City of Newark for the past 18 years,” Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose told The Daily Voice.
“Mayor Baraka, Chief of Police Darnell Henry and I stand with entire Newark Department of Public Safety in extending our deepest condolences to the Jimenez family,” Director Ambrose added.
Officer Jimenez’s career with the NPD began in 2001, The Daily Voice reported.
He served in multiple units during his years of service, to include criminal investigations and the Major Crimes Division’s Special Enforcement and Environmental Task Force.
Officer Jimenez had been assigned to the NPD’s 7th Precinct since it opened in 2018, The Daily Voice reported.
Officer Jimenez leaves behind his spouse, who is also an NPD officer, as well as his son, daughter, and at least one grandchild.
His daughter also serves with the NPD, according to The Daily Voice.
