Hero Down: Neshoba County Sheriff’s Deputy Gregory Tubby Dies Of Natural Causes

Neshoba County Sheriff's Office Deputy Gregory Tubby died of natural causes at his home on Feb. 2.

Choctaw, MS – Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) Deputy Gregory “Greg” Keith Tubby died of natural causes at his home on Feb. 2.

“Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office suffered a greats loss this morning,” Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said later that afternoon, according to The Neshoba Democrat. “Greg Tubby…will be greatly missed. Please lift up his family in prayer.”

Sheriff Clark said that the 49-year-old deputy died of natural causes, WTOK reported.

In addition to his service with the NCSO, Deputy Tubby also worked part-time night shifts for the Carthage Police Department, the City of Carthage said in a Facebook post.

“Gregory was the one who inspired me and gave me the courage to begin my career in law enforcement,” Deanna Bettinger wrote in a memorial tribute. “He is the reason I became a Police Officer. He was an amazing man and a blessing in so many ways.”

In another tribute, Teresa Harris-Kennington said that she “always had much respect for [Deputy Tubby’s] service of Conservation during the time he worked with us in the Southeast Region of the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society.”

“He represented the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians proudly during our conferences and Summer Youth Practicums,” Harris-Kennington wrote. “My condolences to his family and friends.”

Deputy Tubby leaves behind his children, Marilyn, Dalmonnia, Winter, Summer, Jermica, Garrett, Bradley, and Kanyon, as well as his siblings and two grandchildren, according to his obituary.

He was laid to rest on Friday.
