The driver of a 2013 Ford F-250 pulling a trailer turned in front of Deputy Feverston's 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The Florida Highway Patrol said that the front of the truck struck the front of the Jeep, and the impact caused the Jeep to overturn.
Deputy Feverston was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was charged with violation of right of way and turning left in front of traffic
Dave Bristow, spokesman for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, said “It’s the worst possible thing.”
"Our MCSO family lost one of our own today, Corrections Deputy Shaun Feverston was killed this morning in a traffic crash. Our deepest condolences during this difficult time to the Feverston family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you."
Deputy Feverston was a four-year veteran of the agency, and was one of three family members serving with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. His brother is a patrol deputy and his father is the head of the fingerprint unit.
The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation. No one else was injured.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Manatee County Corrections Deputy Shaun Feverston, both blood and blue. Godspeed, sir, we will take the watch from here. Thank you for your service.
