Hero Down: Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Brandon Hosheit Dies Of Heart Attack

Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Brandon Hosheit passed away at his home on Monday.

Greensburg, Kansas – Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) Trooper Brandon Hosheit died of an apparent heart attack at his home on Monday, according to his family.

Trooper Hosheit, 44, collapsed by the treadmill at his home after the medical emergency struck, his sister, April Hosheit Baugh, said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

His wife found him when she returned home from work.

“We are heartbroken,” April’s post read.

Trooper Hosheit graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 1995, and went on to join the KHP, according to his obituary.

He served in Haviland, Coldwater, and Greensburg during his career, which lasted for over two decades.

His childhood friend, Chris Noell, said that Trooper Hosheit looked out for others even when they were young.

“No matter where I go in the film of our friendship in my head, I always end up being grateful,” Noell wrote in a Facebook post. “I don’t know how many times he stuck up for me…[and] included me in life.”

“We don't make it through the struggles in life without that ‘Gifted’ person to make sacrifices for you,” he wrote. “Thank you, Brandon, I've been trying to return your kindness out here in life, I won't stop my old friend. Rest easy, see you on the high ground.”

Trooper Hosheit leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Stacey, as well as his son, Gage, his daughter, Allison, and his grandchild, Indy, according to his obituary.

He is also survived by his sister, nephews, mother, and in-laws.

Trooper Hosheit will be laid to rest on Saturday.
