John-Brown, and name calling is uncalled for.

Nor is there a need for someone to interject themselves implying I am oblivious to the Parkland shooting even though I have referenced it dozens of times on this site since it occurred.

You think you're important enough for people to remember you commented on other posts? You're not. But you are an asshole. You asked, they answered, you got all butthurt. Congrats.

Let's drop the testosterone and adrenalin levels a bit. Most of us are on the same side on this site so let's remember that and just take a step back when needed.

Why is a disturbed person who commits suicide a hero?

Just-My-Thoughts

For 28 yrs he protected his community to the best of his ability. No one knows what horrors he endured, the fears he had to work through, the children destroyed mentally or physically by an abusive parent or pedophile, the blood and guts he had to work through to try and save someone. YOU don't have a clue what he went through or the nightmares he saw trying to rest just to get up and do it again, over and over again. Maybe he couldn't take it anymore. Shame on you.....what the heck have you done in your life that even compares to what he did.....He is a hero for the life he lived, the people he saved and the community he served. Rest in peace Deputy Peterson.... You life DID matter to so many.

Just-my-thoughts is spot on with what was written. Unless you have walked in their shoes or side by side with them, you have NO idea what horrific trauma they have endured. Thank you Deputy Peterson for your years of service and dedication.

Ok people, the family may read this post and they don’t need to see this nonsense. I do know what this Deputy has gone through and no matter what the cause of death or manner of death is, he should be remembered respectfully in death. RIP Deputy our thoughts are with you and your family.

Officer inflicted suicide is a major problem which is conveniently swept under the rug, thus savagely impacting the ability of officers to seek help as needed. For those interested in such matters, they only need to do the research.

Related military service personnel suicides only "recently" came to public attention (tho limited) with the help of organizations such as 22kill.com.
