Hero Down: Bal Harbour Chief Miguel De La Rosa Dies

Chief Miguel De La Rosa died Saturday.

Bal Harbour, FL - Bal Harbor Police Department Chief Miguel De La Rosa, 49, died on Saturday after a battle with cancer.

Chief De La Rosa died just four months after he was appointed the police chief, following the death of Chief Mark Overton from a heart attack in 2016, according to Miami Herald.

Coral Gables Department Fire Chief Marcos De La Rosa tweeted out. "Broken-hearted to say good by to my twin, best friend, and hero. No words can ever do justice for how much I love you. Miss You already. I got you!"

According to Miami Herald, Mayor Gabriel Groisman said in a statement, “We are incredibly and deeply saddened by the loss of such a dedicated public servant who spent his life protecting others."

Chief De la Rosa is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Bal Harbor Chief Miguel De La Rosa , both blood and blue. Godspeed, we will take the watch from here.

Thank you for your service.
