`In the small town of Bedford N.H. there is a man I know who has spent the majority of his life serving his community. He is just an everyday man who decided he wanted to spend his life protecting the people in his life. Including each and every one of YOU. That is what every officer is doing after all and they all deserve our thanks. So I want to take this opportunity to thank one in particular.
Officer William Donahue is 52 and has been on the force for 31 years. He has been an officer longer than I've been alive and he continues to serve his community. For the past three years I've had the pleasure of working with him almost every Sunday. The church I work at hires a police detail every Sunday and Officer Donahue always gets the detail, unless he went to the Pats game.
Officer Donahue works at the school during the week and even some of those kids go to our church. He is an important part of our community and has been doing so for so long that kids he knew from years ago are now grown and have their own kids. Over the years I've heard countless people say that they feel safer knowing he is in the building and that he keeps an eye on who is going in and out of the kids area.
Officer Donahue is just an everyday guy who works hard and is always there when you need him. He likes to fish, go four wheeling with friends, and spend time with his family. He even has quite the collection of license plates. He is just like all of us with one very important difference, he has dedicated his life to protecting and serving his community.
This day in age all people do is focus on the bad and I that is why I think it is important to shine a light at the good that is overlooked. I want people to see an Officer who has spent his life silently protecting us without asking anything in return. I want to thank Officer William Donahue for all that he has done and continues to do. Lastly I want to inspire you the reader to thank your everyday hero's.`
