Even in the obvious stillness of the rare winter sun, his eyes are restless behind closed lids, in this moment and when nighttime sleep evades. These eyes cannot unsee, this mind cannot un-know. And still, he cries with families, and at the beauty of his grandson. High moral integrity, no superficiality, with a deep and powerful grasp of the human condition. Calm under pressure, suffers no fools, devastating when absolutely necessary, but, miraculously, nourishes a core that is resilient, with a reservoir of empathy and compassion.
