Police Union Says They Were Duped By NFL Team, Tells Cops To Return Tickets

The Broward County Police Benevolent Association had a message for their members about the Miami Dolphins.

Miami, FL - A south Florida police union is asking officers to return their NFL tickets after they say they were duped by the Miami Dolphins.

The Broward County Police Benevolent Association posted the message to their Facebook page on Friday.

In the message, the PBA explained that they were told that the Miami Dolphins were going to honor all first responders.

Dolphins players have a history of kneeling during the national anthem in protest of police, and the PBA believed that the kneeling was going to stop.

However, players kneeled in protest of police anyway. The PBA explained what happened:

The Broward County PBA recently offered our members discounts to a Miami Dolphins game because that franchise said they were going to honor all First Responders.

We entered into this partnership with the understanding that the Dolphins organization would require their players to stand for the National Anthem. This did not happen at last night's preseason game against Tampa Bay.

As a result, the BCPBA will no longer participate in this ticket program, and we are asking all of our members, as well as members of the Dade County PBA and Palm Beach County PBA, not to participate either.

If you have already purchased tickets to this game, we encourage you to call the Dolphins ticket office to request a refund because this organization obviously DOES NOT honor First Responders and the dangers they put themselves in every day.

Colin Kaepernick started kneeling on the field during the National Anthem in the pre-season of 2016, protesting the flag over allegations that American police officers are racist killers.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder,” Kaepernick said at the time.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers after the 2016 season and sat out the 2017 NFL season when no other teams signed him.

His teammate Eric Reid was a vocal supporter of the anthem protests. Reid also didn't sign again with the 49ers, and became a free agent.

Both players have since been unemployed and have filed a lawsuit against the NFL alleging a conspiracy to keep them out of the game in retaliation for the upheaval caused by the kneeling.

They're protesting police brutality against unarmed people of color...but you people don't read or hear anything that's being said or written. I wonder how many of you will actually read what I wrote. Idiots.

No more NFL for me since Kapernick last season. These easily offended football playing "fine young pillars of society " can rot as they will not be rallying much of any sympathy to their own cause ( whatever that may be today vs. yesterday) ....If anything they are causing a huge resentment from those who are not black. They should worry more about being an American and less about your personal racial causes and issues especially while working on the clock and keeping the rest of us as a captive audience. Do it on your own time as the rest of America is sick and tired and disgusted of the constant complaints from some of the black community such as these football players . Many foreign people come here without any money, not knowing the language, not knowing our culture, ...and yet they still succeed. These football fools don't actually do much of anything but play a kids game, get payed millions, and think they are heroes for raising a fist or taking a knee . Do your protests on your own time and do something that is actually constructive in those impoverished communities you think you represent.

They protest during games why aren’t the protesting when NFL season is over? Why do they not volunteer their time to housing projects or lower income neighborhoods to give these kids something to look forward to that will make them try harder in school & pull themselves out of poverty! Which means their protesting is BS!

If you are working you should not be protesting. If you wish to do so on your own time and out of uniform that is your right. When I am at work there are certain activities I can not do. Same should apply to players.

I am a die-hard Patriots fan and even though my team chooses to stand for the national anthem. The team that plays against the New England Patriots protest the national anthem. I have not watched a football game since all of this started with the idiot on the 49ers. I will not watch any football until these overpriced ignorant thugs stand proudly for our national anthem and give honest respect. Now I know that will never happen because when their pocketbook or wallet is involved they will do whatever it takes to protect it which makes them total hypocrites. I come from a long line of military involvement as well as respect for our LEO's and all they do to protect this country and its citizens. To me NFL is not the National Football League but the national felons League. Do I miss watching the New England Patriots play hell yeah but I won't watch any games ever again. I am a firm believer in the First Amendment and Free Speech but do it on your time not on my time. They're getting paid millions of dollars to throw a little Pig skin covered ball so protest in the neighborhoods you believe have racial Injustice. Go into the inner cities where gun violence and black on black crime is running rampant. Talk to the youth in those neighborhoods and spend some of your hard earned "sic" money building community centers and sports centers where the teenagers have some place to go to learn something instead of hanging out on the street corners dealing drugs, selling young women in the sex trade and shooting up innocent people in drive-by shootings are bad drug deals. In other words put your money where your knee is

We had a couple of Eagle's player's kneel during the National Anthem in Philly during a preseason game. Until these players get their heads out of their asses and support their country, I refuse to spend my hard earned money that goes to pay any portion of their their outrageous salaries; Super Bowl Champs or not.
