DUI Suspect Tells Cops They Shouldn't Arrest Her Because She's Clean And White

A South Carolina woman who was arrested for drunk driving said she shouldn't be locked up because she's clean and white.

Bluffton, SC – A drunk woman who allegedly blew through a stop sign at 30 mph over the posted speed limit told officers they didn’t need to arrest her because she was a “very clean, thoroughbred, white girl.”

Lauren Cutshaw was going 60 mph in a 30 mph zone in Bluffton on Saturday when she failed to even slow down for an intersection with a four-way stop, The Herald-Palladium reported.

Cutshaw, 32, was stopped by Bluffton police officers at about 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 4, according to The Island Packet.

The police report said Cutshaw's eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and she slurred her words. Officers also smelled liquor coming from the car, according to The Island Packet.

The woman told police she had only had two glasses of wine. But when officers asked her how much wine she had put in the glasses, she replied “I mean I was celebrating my birthday.”

Cutshaw, a real estate agent, performed poorly on sobriety tests and then blew a .18 percent on breath test, according to the police report.

But she explained to the officers that there was no need to arrest her because “I’m a white, clean girl.”

Cutshaw claimed she’d had perfect grades her whole life, she’d been a cheerleader and a sorority girl, she graduated from a “high-accredited university,” and she was in the National Honor Society, according to The Island Packet.

She also told officers that her boyfriend was a cop and said she was trying to get to his house when they stopped her, according to the Herald-Palladium.

Officers asked what that information had to do with anything.

“You’re a cop, you should know what that means,” Cutshaw replied, according to The Island Packet.

Officers found marijuana and rolling papers in Cutshaw’s car, and she admitted she “may have” smoked pot earlier in the evening, the Herald-Palladium reported.

Despite her enthusiastic arguments to the contrary, Cutshaw was arrested and taken to jail.

She was booked on charges of driving under the influence, speeding, disregarding a stop sign, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to The Island Packet.

“Making statements such as these as a means to justify not being arrested are unusual in my experience as a law enforcement officer and I believe further demonstrate the suspect’s level of intoxication,” the officer observed in the police report.

I've used several lines to get out of tickets before but this is new. If her boyfriend really IS a cop I'm betting she's now an "ex" 🤣

Wow. I wonder how many people have tried that. Anyway, there was a guy recently who tried something similar when he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. This guy is the CEO of NASCAR (Brian France) and he dropped a bunch of powerful names, including Donald Trump. In the end, I'm glad those officers did what they were supposed to do.

I'd rather go without than have a "clean white girl" like her in my life. Now, if she gets jail time, she will get a lesson in real life.

With all that “cleanliness” and your “background”. U are even dumber than I originally thought. You obviously don’t know much about paying the piper... serves u right to finally be held accountable to something. Get ready to fight for yourself when u encounter the other inmates who will unlikely like you for being “clean” and “white”.

Well, you have to give her props for trying. By the way, sweetie, I think that your "very clean, thoroughbred, white girl" line is going to backfire spectacularly with the girls in prison. Unless you are into that sort of thing, that is. Enjoy your popularity and try not to drop the soap bar.

The photo on the right makes her look like a model. The other photo make her look like she just got done smoking crack. Just say no!
