Cops Hospitalized After Exposure To Unknown Substance At Strip Club

Brooklyn, IL – Two law enforcement officers and an EMS worker were hospitalized early Friday morning after they responded to a report of multiple overdoses at a nightclub.
Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at Roxy’s Exotic Club just before 3 a.m. and administered Narcan to at least one of the individuals who overdosed, KMOV reported.
EMS workers transported two patrons and one nightclub employee to the hospital, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.
Investigators said that, as they assisted individuals inside the club, two law enforcement officers and one EMS worker made contact with an unknown substance, KMOV reported.
On Friday, that substance was identified as fentanyl, Illinois State Police Captain Timothy Tyler told KTVI.
Washington Park Fire Department officials said that an officer was transported to the hospital by a fellow officer, according to KMOV.
Later in the morning, officials said that a Brooklyn police officer and an EMS worker had also been transported for possible exposure.
"We had multiple pedestrians go down, they couldn't breathe," Brooklyn Police Lieutenant Antonio White told the Bellville News-Democrat. "One of them was given CPR and after receiving CPR one of the officers went down as well. He was rushed to the hospital, there was a second officer on scene and he got rushed to the hospital."
At approximately 4 a.m., Brooklyn and Madison fire units were dispatched to the nightclub to help handle the possible hazmat situation.
The Illinois State Police Drug Unit also arrived and collected the substance for further testing.
Five of the six individuals rushed to the hospital for exposure to the drug have since been released from the hospital.
The male patron who remained hospitalized was listed in serious condition.
It was unknown how many people were inside the club when the incident occurred. First responders immediately evacuated the building.
Roxy’s Exotic Club has been placed under quarantine and was expected to remained closed over the weekend.
No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation as of Friday morning, KTVI reported.

Jul 10, 2018 @Hi_estComnDenomnn Well i definitely didn't vote for Trump or Clinton, but have you heard there are people that just may vote Trump back into office in 2020? Not for reasons you may think. I mean, he's doing a great job of absolutely smashing his poor rural voters into the ground and passing export opportunities all over the world, especially Russia and China. He's doing it better than any president before him. And those poor saps will vote for him again. Hey, at least they're not being ignored anymore. Baby steps.

Jul 9, 2018 @Hi_estComnDenomn I agree insurance companies have a hold on the governments balls and they are squeezing so that their premiums stay expensive. And they are just as guilty as big Pharma. Like I said I will go to detox before I stick a needle in my arm with heroin in it.. my pain pills make me sick now and I hate throwing up! Unfortunately if I get caught with pot in my system when they drug test me at pain management I will get kicked off the pain pills and my insurance will not pay for medical marijuana. So I can't even take a chance and try it to see if it works. Every 6 months I have to reapply to get my pain meds through my insurance. One time I had to wait almost a week but fortunately I have extras every month because I take them like I'm supposed to. The sad part is more teens are getting addicted to their parents pain pills and when they run out they switch to heroin. Like I said in my last post it is a no-win situation for anybody

Jul 8, 2018 @Bulldog I definitely agree Big Pharma has the capability to develop a non-addictive pain med, and on the government side of things, marijuana/THC/CBD is already a non-addictive pain reliever that can help ease the opioid crisis. It would also help if the government regulated the cost of insurance and medication in general. A lot of times these addicts are hooked from prescription pills (a monster onto itself) and when they can no longer afford the meds, they go to the hard shit.

Many of those young users I will address to @LEO0301 many of the young heroin users got addicted from pills in their Medicine Chest that will probably prescribed for their parents. It's a shame that the heroin is now so deadly that even our law enforcement officers and fire officers are getting dosed by touching it. I through the fault of my Dr have become addicted to the pain pills he prescribed. Fortunately for me I can go to a detox before I ever stick a needle in my arm or snort it up my nose. @Hi_estComnDenomn big pharma needs to work at making a Non-addictive pain medication to help the people who have chronic pain. Unfortunately Fentanyl and most opioid pills are made with synthetics so then drug dealers will just start making them. The countries that make these synthetic illegal drugs need to stop them in their own country which will never happen because the money brings in too much currency so to end this discussion it's a no-win situation for everybody
