BREAKING: Fort Myers Officer Shot In The Head At Gas Station

A Fort Myers police officer was shot Saturday night.

Fort Myers, FL - A Fort Myers police officer was shot in the head Saturday night.

The incident happened at a gas station in the area of Martin Luther King Blvd and Flint Drive, according to Fort Myers News-Press.

At around 7:30 p.m. the call of an officer down went out over the radio, but the circumstances of the shooting have not been released.

The gunman was injured and has been taken into custody.

The unidentified officer was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital where he remains in surgery as of the time of this writing.

    Prayers to the officer and family. If you have never been thru a shooting of a police officer, you will never understand how gut-wrenching it is—-even after you have retired.

    @Hippygal last year 128 were killed (mostly by auto accidents). We go lots of dang days, iow.

    Wouldn't it be nice to go just ONE DANG DAY without an officer being killed????? I pray so hard for all our LEO's everywhere but so many people just take them for granted.

    Praying for a full recovery. May God watch over the Officer , Family, and loved ones. This is sad they are here to protect all of us and people hurt the officers there is no respect or concern for others anymore.

    When something like this happens, it is a reminder to keep heads on a swivel no matter where you are. There is no such thing as a safe space for Police officers. Prayers to the family of this officer and his department.
